'Don't I know you from somewhere??' This is a question that Dr. Martin gets asked all the time! His friendly face seems familiar to most, even for those who have just met him.
Dr. Martin grew up just a stone’s throw away from Homedale in Parma. During his high school years, he was actively involved in FFA, baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, and choir. After graduating from Parma High School, Dr. Martin attended the University of Idaho as a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He completed his degree in finance at Boise State, where he served as student body senator and chief of staff.
Dr. Martin attended the prestigious University of Louisville School of dentistry where he served as class president all four years. While in dental school, he was also the recipient of The Outstanding Graduate Award for his outstanding leadership and service and the AHEC Kentucky Offsite Clinical-Community Service Scholarship. This award was given to Dr. Martin for providing dental care for underserved communities in southern Kentucky.
Since graduation, Dr. Martin has been proudly serving our country in the United States Navy. This has allowed him to work intimately across multiple specialties and stay current on the latest dental techniques and technologies. Aboard the USS Pearl Harbor LSD 52, Dr. Martin’s deployment was in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. He was a department head as the ship's only dentist and received the Navy/Marine Corp Commendation Medal. Getting to explore the world was one of the added benefits of being in the Navy, with a deployment to the Middle East which included port calls in Hawaii, Singapore, Goa, Dubai, and Akaba. He loved the opportunity to serve our amazing country while on active duty and continues to do so in the reserves. After his last 7-month deployment and with his family growing, he knew it was time to come home.
Dr. Martin met his college sweetheart at U of I, Lindsey, and they have been married for nearly 25 years. They have three young sons, Ashton ,Gavin and Brayden. When Dr. Martin is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family on outdoor adventures, including camping, fishing and hiking in and around Idaho. Dentistry was not Dr. Martin's initial career path but has quickly become his calling in life! His background in construction provided me with the hand skills, material knowledge and managerial techniques to thrive in the industry I so love. His work started in construction management but the great recession had other plans for him. Dr. Martin was given a forced opportunity to make a lifelong dream come to fruition. Now, instead of building homes, he builds smiles for those in our community. Dr. Martin has developed a deep empathy for his patients and an altruistic approach to dentistry. He treats every patient as if they are his own family.
